It all started at welab in the times of Corna at the beginning of 2020, a time of upheaval.
Supply problems with affordable energy aroused our desire to move away from fossil fuels at this time.
Freeing marine propulsion systems from dependence on fossil fuels has been one of our corporate goals ever since, in order to make a sustainable, economical and flexible propulsion concept available for the future.
But is this future goal achievable?
The term "e-mobility" has shaped the solution approach ever since.
Designing electricity generation solely on fossil-fueled power plants would not initially be a sustainable solution.
It was precisely at this time that welab (R) developed the holistic approach to e-mobility for marine propulsion systems.
Onboard power generation by solar / wind / water and the economical use of flexible storage systems on board the ship have resulted in a solution onboard a circular economy.
The boat as a platform for energy generation is only part of the solution here.
With the integration of the port infrastructure - to generate or provide electricity and/or feed surplus electricity into the local supply grid as ON Grid - this new holistic solution approach from welab became a success.
Since then, one of our company's core competencies has been to convert existing port infrastructure in a smart and cost-effective manner in line with requirements and to define and implement fair billing of the costs incurred to the energy consumer.
It's done! Now the time has come.....
